Rootchat is an application for you to engage with your family, share life updates, safely organize & store family photos and videos!
Rootchat is free to use for all families- regardless of where in the world you are.
Henry Asulin is our Founder and CEO. His favorite emails (henry@myrootchat.com) are from people like you, who are on Rootchat, and have suggestions, ideas, or simply: want to say hi. He lives in NYC with his dog Corey, you may have seen him throughout the app 👀.
My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzhimer’s when I was a young child. I, like my entire family, became unable to communicate with her, learn about her life, and create a formidable bond with her. Being able to have future moments from her supporting me throughout my life would have been priceless. Our mission at Rootchat is to bring 'real’ connection back to the forefront. Our familial bonds are ones that are truly priceless, they deserve a platform specifically designed and intended to help them flourish- regardless of where we live and when we are around.
Rootchat was launched on January 1st, 2024 for iOS and Android!
Rootchat was designed and developed for family members of ALL ages to enjoy using. This means that different from other social platforms, your Rootchat profile and family group/s aren’t accessible for public viewing. A user can block someone, and report any moment, for review, not within the guidelines of our terms and condition policy: which is accessible here. We pride ourselves on facilitating as healthy and enjoyable an experience for our users as possible. You can always reach us with any questions or concerns here: support@myrootchat.com.
Use this link, here, to create an account, log in, or to send to a loved one so they can enjoy the magic of Rootchat with you.
As a new user that has just signed up, you will be prompted to create a family group if you don’t have any pending group invites. If you want to create an additional family group, you can do so at any time from the ‘create new group’ icon on the top left of your home screen.
There are three types of roles within a family group: owner, admin, member.
We each are different, choose the activities you enjoy most! By choosing your interests, you are showing your family members what makes you, you. And you will be able to see what your family members enjoy the most by looking at their profiles as well.
An album is an organized collection of photos and videos that lives within a family group. Regardless of specific user role, any user within a group can create a custom album in that group. Once an album is created, all users in the group can contribute to the album. Gone are the days of having to scroll through hundreds of photos to find the one you’re looking for, or worse, not remembering it existed.
When creating a custom album, you have the option to ‘pin it.’ Going on vacation next month, or have your engagement party coming up? Rest assured, your album will be pinned within your family’s chat for the duration of the event.
Creating a ‘moment’ on Rootchat enables you to celebrate and share different moments in your life with your family! From your first baseball game to providing a congratulatory.
There can be one actively pinned album at a time within a family group.
A private moment is only accessible to you and the selected recipients. A public moment is accessible to all Rootchat users who share a family group with a recipient and/or sender of the moment.
Your phone number validates and secures your Rootchat account. It ensures that your account has a recovery method, if need be.
Providing your contacts enables you to invite family members to join your Rootchat group and accept group invites from others!
Location access enables you to customize a ‘moment’ by adding a location to it!
You can block someone by going to your chat detail page with them, accessible within the one on one chat you both share and clicking the ‘block icon’ on the top right. You can also block someone by going to their profile and clicking the ‘block icon’ on the bottom right of their profile details. At any point, if you choose, you can choose to ‘unblock’ that user as well.
